Meet fellow Wine Enthusiasts near you! Our group is for the person who wants to learn about and experience new wines in a low-key beginner friendly environment. Come hang with the PDX Winos to taste new wines, learn about noses and legs, and discuss great vintages and estates. Everyone's welcome, from new bouquet-sniffers to educated connoisseurs. Happy Wine Tasting! John Loranger

This is an evening group of poetry and wine enthusiasts. It is also a follow up to Poems and Coffee for those who can't make Sunday morning, but still love poetry and would like to discuss poetry over a glass of wine. This will be a group for writers and readers of the literary art form. This first meeting will be designed around what people bring to the group. I'd like to discuss the idea of creating a forum of reading poetry by members or others and those who enjoy writing poetry. Part of the …

Hi! I've lived in North Portland for almost four years and back then I NEVER saw any moms with kids...Now you're everywhere! This group is to help us meet each other and kill some mommy boredom, find some playmates in the neighborhood for the kids and get a happy hour or two on the calendar!
Meetup locally with other people who like to cook. Trade recipes, tips, ideas, cookbooks, and discuss all the magic in the kitchen! We will also incorporate wine and occasional dining out at some great locally chef-owned restaurants too! You don't need to be a chef or a "great" cook to join the group.....just someone (or a couple) that loves food and creating in the kitchen! Because many of these events will be taking place in private homes, I ask that all members post a photo(s) of themself …

Movies and Meaning was started in October, 2007 as way to bring people together from various spiritual, religious, and philosophical perspectives who have in common a love of meaningful movies. I personally started the group after I realized how often I was turning to contemporary movies in order to paint a picture of a spiritual theme in my weekly sermons. But, because I am just as comfortable in emerging spiritualities and other traditions as I am in the Christian tradition I didn't want it t …

Well, I for one, love to read. I would also love to take reading to the next level with a little discussion. I have a few things in mind for this book club: 1) Read some stuff. Obvs. 2) Use some brain power to think and discuss. 3) Meet other Portland women in my age range (early 30s). 4) Have a nice evening once a month despite rain clouds. 5) Maybe have a glass of wine/beer? Hmmm? Or tea. Who's with me?
We'll meet once a month to discuss current and classic works selected by the group. To start, meetings will take place in my home; members willing, they may rotate to others' homes and/or public gathering spaces, such as cafes, wine bars, or parks.
For the organizers of this Meetup, Glass Half Full is more than just the status of our drink glasses or a simple phrase - it is how we live our lives. There is always more to see and do in the world, more to learn, more friends to meet and more fun to be had. We always leave room for a little more, which is why we created the group Glass Half Full. Meetup has allowed us to make some amazing friends, learn more about the world and ourselves all while having a great time and we want to ensure that …
"The only way to have a friend is to be one." - Ralph Waldo Emerson This is a group of open-minded, outrageously fun, warm, intelligent women who grew up during the 1960's and 1970's from various backgrounds. Once a month, we read and discuss a book selection that members recommend. Everything from fiction, nonfiction, memoir, self-help, suspense, to well crafted romance. These gals do more than read. They also enjoy regular game nights of bunco or board games, with coffee and conversati …
Wine country is amazing, but we were lacking a book club which fueled me with the idea to start a casual monthly book club. We are a small group who enjoys good books, great restaurants, and even better conversation. Each month, a different member "hosts" the meeting. It is up to that person to choose our book, the restaurant to meet at, and lead our discussion. Any book is fair game (we have read mysteries, historical fiction, memoirs, and much more to come) and any restaurant is open to us …

Portland Lady Readers are an all-round diverse group of interesting, intelligent, savvy and social women-readers for the Portland area. It is for open-minded, socially conscious, fun, forward-thinking ladies of ages 30 to 45 who are avid readers (and eaters, as there will definitely be food involved). We will speak our minds and from our hearts. We will dedicate one day of the month for books and bonding. We will have our meeting preferably at one of the members' homes where we would bring wine, …

If you are a young mom(25-33) with young children (1-5) on the Westside, this group could be for you. I wanted to join a group to make new friends and enjoy some adult conversations while the kids are having fun. This group is focused on having a good time, being open-minded, having discussions over coffee or cocktails and spending time, with our kids and without. It's about making friends with women that have similar interests, even if they come from different backgrounds. Open to fitness, shop …
